Pawz was founded in 2012 by Martina with the goal to create a company focused on providing top quality pet care with a personal touch for demanding dogs.
Pawz is the first business in Prague to provide a truly professional one-on-one loving care for your four-legged companions. We offer safe and reliable walking, running, sitting and training services for busy Praguers and are excited about top-notch customer service.
We believe in establishing long lasting bonds with both our four-legged, and two-legged clients, so we’re not here to just walk and sit your loved one but become their second-best friend.
We know the specifics of dog communication and body language, aggression and how to prevent it, safety and fight protocols, and basic training skills.
We don’t walk dogs in packs, we don’t chat on our mobile phones or wear headphones whilst working, and we take our jobs very seriously.
As dog owners (who’ve had to search for walkers and/or sitters at one time or another) we understand that the bond between you and your pet is a strong one, and we try our hardest to rid of any stress and anxiety you may have when you are away. Your dog’s safety is always our number one concern.
We look forward to meeting you and your pooch!
Meet our team
When the other kids were watching MTV, I was taping Animal Cops and the Dog Whisperer. Running off and becoming a cruelty investigations officer for the SPCA soon dissipated—as childhood dreams do—and I went on to work in the media, keeping pooches on the sidelines , whether it was Holland and cleaning up poop in a dog shelter, walking dogs in New York City’s stifling summers or Montreal’s frosty winters.
It took me a while to come to the wonderful realization that I can do this fulltime in the very city I love! As a (very proud) owner of the world’s kindest Beagle, I know very well how hard it is to entrust your loving companion in someone else’s care.
Having cared for all kinds of four-legged personalities well beyond the borders of the Czech Republic, and having learnt from the best in the dog-care field, I’m confident that what I’ve created here at Pawz can make pooches’ and owners’ daily lives a lot more easy going. Since 2014, I’m also a Certified Professional Pet Sitter by Pet Sitters International.
Dogs have always been a part of who I am. Growing up, I’ve taken to cynology mainly through self-study, deepening my knowledge and acquiring plenty of experience before getting my first own pooch at nineteen.
During the next twenty years, I’ve had a go at many disciplines, including agility, training service and rescue dogs, coursing, canicross and ethology.
My mission in life is to give joy, love and compassion to all four-legged friends. I’m happy to have them learn in positive and fun ways. Either way, I will always make sure your pooch has a great time when you are working or travelling, so that you come back to a balanced pet teeming with vigor.
I’ve shared a special bond with animals since very early on, so when the time came for me to decide on what field to go into, my mind was made up. After graduating from veterinary school, I continued my studies at the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague, specializing in cynology.
I’ve worked with animals my whole life, be it as an assistant to veterinarians, volunteer at dog shelters, aide in a dog-training center or a dog sitter in the lovely London. As an owner of two pooches, I’d love to provide the very same care to other four-legged gems.
I moved to Prague from The Netherlands two years ago with my husband and our two doggies Zoë and Elliot. As long as I can remember I have been surrounded by dogs, starting with my childhood buddy Boxer named Ikar.
I have in one way of another always been involved in the wellbeing of dogs. I was a volunteer for an organisation that helps to find homes for stray dogs from Spain and Turkey. We ourselves adopted two of these wonderfull pooches. I also worked in a shelter in my hometown in The Netherlands where I learned a lot about dog behavior, and caring for different personalities.
Working for Pawz as a dog walker and sitter is another way of making more pooches happy and healthy!
I was a dog walker in the Toronto area for four years before moving to Prague and joining the Pawz team. I have worked with many dogs of many breeds, from Chihuahuas all the way to Newfoundlands and Irish Wolfhounds.
My love, compassion and leadership qualities ensure that your dog will be treated with kindness and lots of hugs and kisses!
Dogs have been part of my life since very early on. My mother has been a professional cynologist for a number of years, so I’ve been handed down lots of experience from her. I’ve began working with dogs with behavioral issues at around 15 years or age, and have been successful with them at agility trials, canicross races and pittbull shows. I’m currently working on receiving qualifications in training personal protection dogs.
At Pawz, I look forward to meeting your loved ones, whether it be through sitting, walking or running!
Since I was a kid, animals have always picked up on my kind nature. I used to be a cat mom, but when I met my boyfriend, who had a dog at the time, I fell in love and soon became a dog owner myself. For more than five years, I have cared for many dogs other than my own Jack Russel Terrier, Mila. I will give your doggie the love and attention they need. I am a capable, trustworthy, and a responsible person, and I will do my best to treat your pet, and your property with the utmost respect and care.
Dog- It seems that nature has given the dog to man for his defense and for his pleasure. Of all the animals it is the most faithful :” It is the best friend man can have. ”
– Voltaire, Dictionnaire philosophique, 1794
Dog is man’s best friend and I agree for one hundred percent. Since I was a child I liked to spend free time with grandma’s Border Collie. With this lovely dog I figured out how to make me and dogs a happy life. When I became older in the beginning, I just used to walk with dogs of neighbors, friends or relatives. After years when I was on high school I was looking for professional company. So at 2016 I had found the PAWZ. Small group of professionals and huge dog lovers. Then I realised that a job as a dog walker was perfect fit for my personality and active lifestyle. Because I still have not got my own dog, the PAWZ company helps me to achieve this dream. Every day with dogs is of new experiences and useful skills and… happiness!
I have always found dogs fascinating and enjoyed their company! Back in my home country I used to have two lovely dogs: a female Pit-bull and a Boxer. For more than three years I have been a doggy walker/sitter here in Prague. It started as a hobby/volunteering activity. In 2016 I decided to quit my office job and dedicate myself to my hobby full-time, so I joined an amazing and professional team here at Pawz. I have experience with a wide range of dog behaviours or breeds and look forward to making more canine friends.
I grew up around animals, in the English countryside. We had chickens, horses, cats – and of course, dogs. My family always had rescue dogs, some of whom were troubled, and some of whom had challenging behaviour that under British law meant they were due to be destroyed when my family took them. I believe that all animals are individuals, and taking care of them, making their lives better and meeting their needs to be happy, healthy, fit, and feel secure, has always been my passion. I now have an Australian Shepherd rescue dog named Gandalf, aged eight, who came from a bad background with some challenging behaviour. After more than two years together, training and being best friends, I am so proud of him and everything we’ve achieved.
One of my biggest childhood dreams had been to have my own dog to care for. That dream came true when I turned 11 and got my very own whippet pup, Warinka, who opened up the gates to the dog world, and I gradually became more involved with dog training.
Education-wise, I’ve graduated from the University of Life Sciences in Prague in Animal Science of Special Breeds, and followed up with a Master’s program in Special-interest Breeds. I’ve sucessfully completed instructors‘ training at the Agility Club of the Czech Republic and have attended seminars led by dog trainers such as Gerard O´Shea, Gabi Harris, Jane Killion.
Apart from dog training, I enjoy and compete in agility, flyball, obedience, dogfrisbee and dogdancing both with clients‘ pooches and my own pack of Jack Russell Terriers and an Australian Shepherd. I’m constantly educating myself when it comes to dog training and behaviour modification, and approach each case individually to find the best solution.
I come from Bystřice pod Hostýnem, but I live in Prague now. I’ve been trainer for seven years, though I’ve been involved with dogs much longer. My training methods build on positive reinforcement and method called shaping.
My greatest teacher has always been my dog named Afy, mixed breed, which I’ve adopted from a dog shelter. Aside from being my best buddy, Afy is my agility partner, and our dream has been European championship and IMCA. Due to Afy’s health issue, we’ve made the MA2 category, and we are currently busy doing canistherapy, mainly with seniors, as well as obedience training.
Dog training has been a full-time endeavor for me for some time now. I have experience with everyday problems like pulling on the leash, barking, etc, but my main focus is always on helping owners bond with their dogs.
We value your opinion!
“Our dog Ferris has really enjoyed his walks and play times with the staff from Pawz. They are always friendly and happy to take Ferris and are always
easy to communicate with about questions or concerns. Pawz staff are so friendly, very reliable and professional! Thank you for everything!”
“Our three dogs had a little vacation when Martina sat them. You know and love your work, and we can see that. Every morning, I received SMSes and MMSes,
and more photos through email, about how the boys were doing and what they were up to. I’m a very anxious owner, and it took me a long time to be
able to entrust my doggies into someone else’s care. Thanks to Pawz, I can actually go on a holiday and not be worried about my boys. And they are
so well-priced for the quality of service they provide. Thanks, Martina!”
"When things get especially busy for us, it's great to have this kind of service in our area. We especially appreciate the ability to make
a last-minute request if something comes up. Our dog Tilly always looks forward to seeing any of the team members from Pawz!"
"I'm very happy with the service provided by Pawz. My dog Frankie loves her walkers. They are also very accommodating, as our schedule
changes often and I feel at ease during my work day knowing my dog is being well taken care of."
“Reliable and professional. Everything works as agreed on at 200%. I really appreciate the updates about each walk. You obviously enjoy what you do,
and my dog is very happy!”
